THE WAR DOG MEMORIAL
​OUR MISSION IS COMPLETE!




ON NOVEMBER 9,2018, AT 12NOON, THE WAR DOG MEMORIAL WAS UNVEILED ON MAIN STREET IN AVON PARK.  THIS MONUMENT WAS DONATED TO THE CITY OF AVON PARK BY THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS, INCORPORATED AND THE LOYAL ORDER OF THE MOOSE, LAKE PLACID, #2374, AND THEIR VOLUNTEERS & SPONSORS.
AT THIS TIME, WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THE INDIVIDUAL ENTITIES WHO HELPED US BRING THIS MONUMENT TO LIFE:

​​  On Veterans Day we  served meals to our veterans for FREE. At this event we  will also  had our annual grant disbursal ceremony to the 3 charities chosen,

THE SFSC VETRANS CLUB (AVON PARK CAMPUS) (LEARNING MATERIALS ONLY)
PROJECT 65
 each recieved grants of $1,000.00 from the Battle of the Bands, Inc.
FUNDS RAISED AT OUR MUSIC FESTIVALS.
 The food service was held at Union Congregational Church on North Butler Avenue, in the SOLID GROUNDS dining area. The funds raised  at the food service $220.00 have been allocated to the Michael J.Feeney Veterans of Tomorrow Grant. This event was OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  LIVE MUSIC WAS PERFORMED RAISIN' CAIN AT THIS EVENT.

THE ARMED FORCES TREES DEDICATION CEREMONY 2018

On FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7TH, 2018, THE 63RD ANNIVERSARY OF THE ATTACK OF PEARL HARBOR, will have our fourth dedication ceremony for the ARMED FORCES TREES, the reason the Battle of the Bands was created for in the first place.  It is a small and respectful ceremony that is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  It will be held at 5pm at Veteran's Square ( the Monument Mall/ Flag pole) on Main Street in Avon Park.
After the dedication ceremony, this display will remain up for viewing until January 1, 2019.
We encourage everyone who can visit this display to view this dignified honoring of our Armed Forces.

BENEFITING VETERANS PROJECTS
& CHARITIES
HONOR, RESPECT & DIGNITY ALWAYS.
       In 2015 our organization THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS, INC., was founded. Hosting events to raise funds for veterans projects and charities.  These events were 100% volunteer generated and operated. They were held in Highlands County Florida.  People in the community came together for the cause of the Armed Forces Trees Display, and its ultimate goal, raise awareness of local veterans issues.  When the funds goal is achieved for the display, surplus funds will be donated to Veteran’s Projects & Organizations & that can PROVE that at least 90% of what they receive in donations is disbursed in goods and services to United States Veterans.

WE ARE 100% VOLUNTEER OPERATED & GENERATED.
Other than general operational costs, all funds are sent right back into the community
VIA PROJECTS AND LOCAL VETERANS CHARITIES.
THERE IS NO PAYROLL, NOR  WILL  THERE EVER BE.
WE ARE HERE BECAUSE WE CARE.

THIS EVENT IS HELD AT THE AVON PARK MOOSE LODGE AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

THIS EVENT HELD THE DAY BEFORE VET JAM MUSIC FEST. A UNIQUE FAMILY EVENT WITH A NAUTICAL/ CARRIBEAN FAVOR.

MISSION STATEMENT
 
The Battle of the Bands, Incorporated, was established on February 15th, 2015.
 
The goals for this organization are as follows:
 
To create an annual display to honor American Veterans during the Holiday Season on the section of Main Street in Avon Park, Florida, so named the Monument Mall, commonly referred to as Veterans Square.
 
To provide funds for this displays annual maintenance.
 
Provide an annual Veterans Day Meal Service Event,
"You Served Us, Now We Serve You"
 
Once these are complete, the remaining funds (excluding organizational/operational supplies and needs) shall be donated to local veteran’s projects and charities.
 
3 Charities will be selected the Executive board of The Battle of the Bands, Inc. annually that shall recieve donations from our charity events.
The criteria is as follows:
They are a veterans charity
At least 90% of what they recieve go DIRECTLY back to veterans.
Research on this will be conducted by our Executive Board.
